Hello everyone,
This happened on the 8th of July 2024, around noon. Seems like a long time ago now.
So, how is everyone this lovely morning?
We are fine. But I wanted to post and let you know about my accident.
I love riding my etrike, her name is Autumn, and she is a Liberty Trike, but one must never forget what can happen in the blink of an eye. All it takes is one second when things are off and your balance is not what it should be, or you are just not thinking in the blink of an eye. It is in the blink of an eye that this happened.
I had been out for a lovely ride on Plum Run Road down to 310, turned around, was starting home, got home, and started up our steep driveway, which I had ridden before with no problem. The front wheel got caught in the uneven driveway, and the handlebar was jerked out of my hand. I reached up and grabbed it, twisting the throttle, and the little bike turned around and headed down the driveway at an angle. I remember saying a prayer at the top of "the drop", Dear God, please help me. I remember nothing until I woke up in the hospital. I went over the edge of our driveway and down about a 20 to 25-foot drop to the ditch and road below, but my downward speed started back up the drive about 15 or 20 feet. You would have to see our drive and the long hill I am talking about before I went off the driveway. My husband was standing on the driveway and saw the whole thing. When he got to me, he said I was unconscious, he went for a phone, and when he returned, I was yelling and moving around, said I could not breathe, and leaned me on my trike, which was right beside me at the time. Waited for medics, who then took me to someplace on 310 highway where a helicopter picked me up and flew me to trauma at Ruby Hospital, where I woke up.
My face was broken up; my nose was broken. Left eye socket was crushed, front upper teeth from broken nose at very top between eyes down on either side of the nose was all broken, my collarbone was splintered, and I broke 7 ribs all on the left side of my body, and my left kneecap was split all the way open, and my tendon was torn off. My right knee on the inside of the leg had a 3-corner deep tear and was hanging open. Later on, someone put staples in the leg, which never healed right. That right leg was not given proper care even in the hospital; it seems it was not a huge concern, given the condition of the rest of my body. Later on, at home, one month later, I had "pus" come out of my leg, then it began to heal.
All I know is that God protected me and is still helping me heal. I could have broken my neck from that fall or have been killed.
Following are a couple of pics of my accident. More pics will follow on different posts as time goes by.

The other side of my face |
KNOW THIS: God saved my life and has protected me from what could have happened. My body has healed so fast. I owe it all to GOD.
On the lighter side of all this, I had started a diet for a few days before this happened, and my husband now calls this my " CRASH DIET ", somewhat painfully, but I have lost around 40 to 43 pounds so far in less than one month.
UPDATE: June 25, 2025
My head and neck are still bothering me, and I know it will take a long time to heal. The side of my left eye and the upper row of teeth are numb. My mouth does not line up like it used to. The doctor said he had to break up my face to put it back together, but he gave me a different bite, and so now I chew on my cheeks when trying to eat anything, even just trying to chew gum. I cannot smell most things, and I can't taste most foods I eat.
Love and Prayers, Margo
